New web site feedback wanted!
Congratulations! The website is very organized and user-friendly. I have the following questions:<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
1. How does this website link to other KM platforms on CD e.g. UNDP, WB managed sites, etc.?
2. Is there a page on this site where all key messages/action points/recommendations from various CD events/activities/interventions are frontloaded?
3. Is there a list of key discussion topics for 2011?
4. I also tried searching for “diaspora” and came up with one result: “Capacity Development in Fragile Situations” (Accra). I have also read the “Capacity Development and Civil Society Organizations: Perspectives note” with interest. I am just wondering if there are discussions in connection with involving the Diaspora in the context of increased attention given to CD in CSOs towards national development (?).
Your personal insights on #4 would be greatly appreciated.
With best wishes,
Judith
Hi, Judith. With this web site we are trying to really make LenCD more open for participation by members of the community, and make it become more intertwined with other organisations' web sites, but much of this is going to be constructed over time and hopefully in cooperation with other organisations.
1: Regarding linking with other KM platforms, I don't want to duplicate what others are already doing, and am trying to have some conversations with people at other key sites to try to avoid duplication. I think LenCD, as an independent network rather than an organisation itself, can be a sort of hub for promoting what other organisations are doing. We're starting to collect some materials heading in that direction: for example we are starting to collect profiles of organisations involved in capacity development; the case story area highlights a selection of case stories from various sources; I will shortly be launching a cross-site search service to help people search materials from multiple sites; and so on.
2 & 3: LenCD is starting by focusing energy on a few specific areas that have been identified as prorities. These are the areas listed as "working groups": knowledge management, the development of an introductory learning package on CD, managing for results, and developing policy messages relevant to aid effectiveness. Activity is now starting to build and I think we will indeed be pulling together many threads in these areas.
4: Diaspora engagement could very well be a subject for discussion if people in the network are interested in pursuing it. It's certainly a hot topic. The World Bank Capacity Development Resource Centre has a hub on this issue at http://go.worldbank.org/1PL7U44T40 which seems a good place to start.
