IBON Foundation

IBON International works on capacity development of peoples’ movements around the world for human rights and democracy. This is done through (i) interventions promoting alternative systems, social structures, economic programs and development paradigms to peoples’ movements and civil society organizations that work with them; (ii) developing centers of capacity development in the global south—centers that are locally led and adapts intervention to context, and in the north—centers that advance the issues of the marginalized, build solidarity for issues of the south and provide development education to the people of the north; and (iii) building strategic working relationships among civil society, government and donor actors on the basis of principled partnership.

What we can contribute:

IBON International program areas are currently focused on (i) aid and development cooperation; (ii) environment and climate justice; (iii) food, agriculture and rural development; and (iv) trade and development finance. IBON International produces primers, policy briefs, presentation for issue discussions and a bi-monthly magazine. In addition to these available resources on focus program areas, IBON can likewise contribute the following:

  • Aid effectiveness – resources, links, actions

  • Grassroots non-formal education – courses, modules, resources

  • Basic education (elementary and middle level) – teacher training, paradigm building, textbooks and other resources

  • International CSO networking resources, lessons

What we are looking for:

As an organization that is developing and evolving, IBON takes each opportunity to learn more from the experiences of fellow development actors in different countries and contexts working on similar program focus. Specifically, IBON seeks the following:

  • CD learning exchange

  • Related resources for grassroots CSO CD

Where we work:

IBON works globally linking local campaigns and advocacies to international initiatives. IBON initiates and implements international programs, develops and hosts international networks, initiates and participates in international advocacy campaigns, and establishes regional and country offices. IBON is based in the Philippines.
