International Organization Development Association (IODA)

IODA is an international network of Organizational Development professionals, consultants, practitioners and social scientists. It is organized as an association with members in many countries that are contributing to change processes all over the world.

IODA is dedicated to supporting and strengthening OD principles at international level through research, academic OD programs, peer mentoring and coaching, networking and sharing of knowledge, international OD projects and cultural exchange.

IODA’s vision is to be a vibrant, cross-cultural community of OD practitioners committed to the growth of OD practices around the world.

Our mission is to offer members the opportunity to share with one another their accumulated experience, knowledge and skills.

Since its inception, IODA’s strategy and operation has been based on four principles:

  • Dedication to OD principles and values at the worldwide level.
  • Maintaining a professional, decentralized and participative association.
  • Commitment to expansion of OD practice in member countries.
  • Promotion of cultural interchanges through the sharing of multicultural values and international experience.
What we can contribute:

Sharing/bringing in expertise in process facilitation, visioning, systems thinking and organisation development diagnosis, mentoring and coaching tools, and facilitators. IODA has experience in:

  • Networking with OD experts around the world
  • Sharing knowledge through electronic communications and publications
  • Participating in professional development opportunities
  • Teaching or providing training in academic and practitioners OD programs worldwide
  • Offering peer mentoring and coaching for new OD consultants
  • Affiliations with other major OD organizations and regional networks
What we are looking for:

Re-thinking CD to enable organisations to look at three level CD: (1) being (vision, mission, values, strategy); (2) Performing (critical, relevant knowledge, skills, attitude to deliver on mission), and (3) Relating (building strategic partnerships, links, and networks to facilitate knowledge and resources to deliver on mission).

This will help organizations to grow holistically, moving away from the traditional CD to improve performance only. CD should be seen as not only training, but also a follow-up with coaching and mentoring.

Where we work:

Today IODA has members in more than 50 countries worldwide including Mozambique and is growing still. An international conference is held every year in a different continent and country.
