UN-HABITAT
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. With over 50% of the world's population living in cities, the need to develop the capacities of local and national authorities and civil society to address the pressing challenges of climate change, economic development, improving the lives of slum dwellers and other issues is crucial.
What we can contribute:
- Case evidence of initiatives to support learning
- Strong local presence in numerous countries that can be utilised to support LenCD activities.
- Meeting space / conference facilities in Nairobi at no cost to host events.
- Strong network of training institutions.
- Partners for activities.
- Some small funding to support specific consultancies.
- Analytical documents and research to support targeted and relevant capacity development interventions that are appropriate for the urban space
What we are looking for:
- Research products that are relevant to urban issues
- Specific learning products on CD for our staff and partners
- Partners in a range of areas to support CD activities
- Innovations and new approaches to learning at both the individual and organizational levels
